iPhone 4S Breaks Pre-Order Record

When Tim Cook launched the iPhone 4S last week, there were
many watching who were disappointed that there wasn’t a bigger refresh – but there
seems to be many who think the 4S is just dandy.

Apple has announced that the iPhone 4S is its fastest ever
selling product with more than 1,000,000 pre-orders being placed in the space of
24 hours after it went on sale last week. That’s a whopping 400,000 more than
ordered the iPhone 4 when it launched last year.

The iPhone 4S was seen by many following the launch last
week as only a small upgrade to the previous model and lots of Apple watchers
were disappointed by the lack of an iPhone 5.

“We are blown away with the incredible customer response to
iPhone 4S,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide
Product Marketing. “The first day pre-orders for iPhone 4S have been the most
for any new product that Apple has ever launched and we are thrilled that
customers love iPhone 4S as much as we do.”

With 100 hours to go before the new model is available in
shops, eager shoppers have begun queueing outside the Apple Store on Regent Street in
central London
with the handset not going on sale until 8am Friday, 14 October.

The guys from @JailBreakCon
are at the head of the queue having started their marathon queueing session at
4pm on Friday last, a full week before the launch – and have even managed to post
some videos of their experiences (below).
