Apple to launch hybrid 12-inch iPad Pro in autumn?
Apple could launch a hybrid 12-inch iPad Pro in autumn 2014, according to analyst predictions.
Evercore Partners analyst Patrick Wang has released a note to investors outlining his predictions for 2014 and suggests Apple will launch a 12.2-inch hybrid iPad.
Currently known as the iPad Pro, Wang predicts that this larger 12.2-inch display Apple slate could change the PC landscape.
As a 12.2-inch iPad would be more akin to the 11.6-inch MacBook Air, Wang predicts that Apple will use the larger screen size as a new hybrid notebook/tablet for business users.
Built with a next-generation Apple A8 processor inside, the iPad Pro could launch in autumn 2014 running both iOS and Mac OS X operating systems.
Wang highlighted his beliefs that the 64-bit infrastructure of the new Apple A7 processor is a “game changer” and will make way for the new iPad Pro.
A fair few rumours of late suggest that Apple has already been experimenting with a 12-inch screen for a new product that may well launch this year.
The new naming tradition set by the iPad Air, following in the footsteps of the MacBook Air, could suggest that the Cupertino company is gearing up to launch a Pro iPad model, like the MacBook Pro.
Microsoft has been trying to dominate the hybrid PC/tablet market, but has had little success with its Windows 8 devices in this sector.
