With iPad mini sales officially set to kick off across 34 countries, including the UK and US, later this week, new reports have seen French consumers suggest that iPad mini devices pre-ordered through third party retailer Darty have already been delivered, with a selection of iPad mini unboxing pictures acting as proof.
The latest reports, which come courtesy of French blog iGen, have appeared just days after the first iPad mini Smart Cover pre-orders started reaching early adopters ahead of the accessory’s official release alongside the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 rivalling gadget.
iPad mini Specs
Apple’s first sub-sized tablet, the recently unveiled iPad mini specs see the 7.9-inch device line up as a high-end Google Nexus 7 and Amazon Kindle Fire HD rival, with the iPhone 5 and iPad 4 alternative pairing Apple’s trademark premium design with a collection of impressive innards.
Lining up a just 7.2mm thick and a paltry 308g in weight, the iPad mini, which is available in both black and white colour forms, sees a 5-megapixel rear-mounted camera paired with a second, FaceTime HD snapper on the device’s front, allowing for video calling.
Set to be made available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB storage options, the iPad mini, which will launch as a Wi-Fi only device with a Wi-Fi 3G model to land later in the year, boasts a dual-core A5 processor and proudly features 35 per cent more screen real-estate than standard 7-inch devices.
Tipped as hosting a 10 hour battery life, the iPad mini features list is topped off by a brushed aluminium backed design, improved Wi-Fi connectivity and 1080p Full HD video recording capabilities. Sporting the new Apple Lightning connector found on the iPhone 5 and 2012 iPod Touch, the iPad mini runs the recently released iOS 6 operating system.
iPad mini Release Date and Price
Despite some advanced orders having already made their way to consumers, the eagerly awaited iPad mini release date is expected to see Apple’s flagship stores host long queues ahead of the November 2 launch.
Having raised a few eyebrows with its less than wallet friendly price tag, iPad mini prices are set to kick off at £269 for the 16GB Wi-Fi model with the 32GB and 64GB storage options to set wannabe owners back £349 and £429 respectively.
