iPad 4 unveiled, with A6X processor

Apple surprised the tech world today with the unveiling of the iPad 4, or 4th generation iPad, complete with more powerful processor.

Apple was expected to launch a tweaked version of the iPad 3 at the “iPad mini” launch event, but in a surprise move it has launched a new iPad 4 model complete with a new more powerful processor. Apple’s Phil Schiller claims the 4th Generation iPad’s A6X processor offers twice the power of the A5X processor seen in the previous iPad 3.

Aside from the uprated processor, though, the improvements are as expected. The 4th Generation iPad comes complete with the new Lightning connector, and features “expanded” 4G LTE connectivity to help it work across the world, including the UK’s EE network.

iPad 4 specs

Other iPad 4 specs remain the same, including the 10-hour battery life and the dual colours available. The 4th Generation iPad costs the same as the iPad 3, starting at £399 for the 16GB Wi-Fi only model.
