Apple’s iOS 9 only just launched to the public on, but adoption is rising fast.
Adoption of the new mobile operating system has already hit 19%, according to new figures released by Mixpanel.
That’s impressive stuff, considering iOS 9 has only been available for two days.
By comparison, Google’s latest Android 5.0 Lollipop took five months to reach just to break past the 10% adoption mark.
What’s more, Lollipop only very recently broke the 20% point. The majority of users – around 40% – are still using Android KitKat, the previous software version.
Unsurprisingly, the number of users running iOS 8 has dropped from 93% to 71% since iOS 9 launched.

Apple OS updates tend to outpace their Android counterparts due to the relative ease of rollout.
The only devices iOS updates are pushed to are iPhones, so Apple can sent software live immediately.
With Android however, many manufacturers often make changes to the software, which can delay update releases by months.
Also, Google doesn’t directly control the rollout due to the huge fragmentation of the Android platform. Instead, manufacturers and carriers determine when over-the-air updates are released.
As such, it’s not surprising that Apple’s iOS 9 is already hitting impressive adoption numbers.
