iOS 7.1 update released, adds CarPlay and bug fixes
The long awaited iOS 7.1 update has been released, with the latest iPhone and iPad software patch bringing an array of bug fixes and new features to the mobile platform.
Adding Apple’s newly detailed CarPlay functionality, which will allow your iPhone 5S to communicate better with compatible vehicles, the iOS 7.1 update also sees Siri improvements made and a number of design refinements introduced.

Available now as a free, over-the-air patch, the iOS 7.1 update is compatible with a range of Apple’s recent smartphones and tablets, including the iPhone 5C, iPad Air and iPhone 4.
With CarPlay allowing your iOS device to sync music, maps and messages to your in-car system, the iOS 7.1 Siri improvements will see more natural voices added alongside the ability to determine how long Siri listens out for your voice.
As well as bringing a selection of small visual changes, including tweaks to the Phone, Messaging and FaceTime app icons, the iOS 7.1 update will improve Touch ID fingerprint recognition for iPhone 5S owners.
At 218MB in size, the iOS 7.1 release is available to download now by visiting Settings >> General Settings >> Software Updates within your device’s menu options.
