INQ1 Coming to Other Networks

"Discussions going very well" confirms INQ boss.

I love the INQ1, Sandra loves the INQ1 and you should too, but if you’re in an area with particularly ropey 3 reception or just fancy staying loyal to another network then fear no more…

Mobile Today has spoken with INQ boss and all round nice chap Frank Meehan who has revealed the bargain PAYG web 2.0 handset is garnering “quite a bit of demand” from rival telcos. (It is a common myth that 3 owns the INQ brand, both actually have the same umbrella owner – Hutchison Whampoa – but are run independently as wholly owned subsidiaries)

“Talks with operators are going very well, and we definitely expect it to be available on other networks this year,” Meeham explained. “We’re privately owned and well funded though, so we’re not in too much of a rush. The important thing is to get the right business.”

The INQ1 currently sells for free from just £15pm on the 3 network and that includes unlimited data access, texts and 3-to-3 calls plus 75 minutes of cross network minutes. Meehan also reiterated something he told me at the INQ1 launch: that any array of INQ mobiles in different form factors and price points will appear throughout 2009.

My insider tip: watch out for a Qwerty model soon and touchscreen before the end of the year…
