Images and promo video leak of Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 and 8.4

Next week, in New York, Samsung will announce at least two new Galaxy Tab devices. The Tab S 8.4 and the Tab S 10.5 will both feature AMOLED displays, which is a big deal, especially on that larger tablet.

The new images show some surprising details, and some that we’ve mentioned were likely before. The fingerprint scanner, for example, is now all but confirmed. What we didn’t know though, was just how thin these tablets were going to be. The materials show a depth of just 6.6mm and a weight of just 465g for the 10.5-inch model and 287g for the 8.4.

The rumours also suggest that the screen will have a resolution of 2560×1600, which will make both tablets pretty impressive visually. The processor is said to be Samsung’s octo-core, and it is coupled with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage – expandable with microSD – and Android KitKat 4.4.3.

There’s also a really rather funky promo video too, which you can see below.

These tablets may also end up being available in similar form as Nexus tabs at some point. We have seen numerous leaks that suggest an 8.4-inch Nexus is coming, and as that size isn’t the most common it is possible to make a leap to assume this device will be the basis for Google’s version.

The launch event takes place on June 12th in New York’s Madison Square Garden, and there has also been the suggestion that the tablets will be available to pre-order the next day. The retail launch is scheduled for the end of June. Trusted Reviews will be in New York, so we’ll have plenty of hands-on content to show once everything is official.
