One of the most popular assessories for Apple's all conquering players finally lands on our shores.
The iHome iH5 has been one of the most successful iPod accessories of the last six months and – finally – it now available in the UK.
Available in black or white, the swanky stereo clock radio is the flagship product of long time industry player SDI Technologies and even notes the New York Times amongst its fans after the paper called it the “strongest selling accessory of 2005”.
Its success seems to be down to its general ease of use and all-round functionality. Obviously it plays content from your iPod (and apparently very nicely through the ‘Reson8 Speaker Technology’ which is designed to add clarity, depth and power), but it also works the player into its key operations. For example a user can choose to wake up or go to sleep with either the AM/FM radio, buzzer or iPod and a nice touch is that it increases/decreases the volume gradually as the minutes pass.
The iH5 is also compatible with every iPod to date and it charges the player whether in use or not it meaning you won’t miss that separate AC adaptor Apple stingily no longer bundles. Finally a matching remote control can handle all major functions including iPod operation, radio, alarm resetting and – most importantly – the snooze button!
At £99.99 SDI hasn’t become greedy with the price and it should be appearing in stores as we speak. If you use just went out and bought new alarm clock… ”sucks to be you!”
