Huawei TalkBand B2 combines activity tracking with Bluetooth call handling

Huawei is taking another stab at the wearables game unleashing the Huawei TalkBand B2 at MWC 2015.

A reworking of its original effort, the 2014 released Huawei TalkBand B1, the B2 takes a left-field approach to the activity tracker game, bestowing the seemingly standard wrist band with an unusual party-piece.

As on its predecessor, the Huawei TalkBand B2 features a pop-out Bluetooth headset for simple hands-free calling on the fly.

Unlike the past model, however, the B2 has been bestowed with a more premium metal-effect build and a touchscreen display for easier content navigation. This 0.73-inch Plastic AMOLED display allows for seamless swipes between menus and functions.

The B2 is a successor to the B1 and has the same hybrid functionality as a Bluetooth headset and a fitness tracker,” an official Huawei spokesperson said in unveiling the device. “You can track your movements, calories, set goals on it and monitor your sleep. It also has a dedicated companion app as well.”

It’s not just the device’s screen which has been enhanced either. Offering more accurate tracking than the B1, Huawei’s latest wearable has added a gyroscope alongside the already integrated accelerometer.

This addition will allow the B2 to instantly recognise what activity you’re doing, be it walking, running, cycling or sleeping.

Compatible with both iOS and Android ecosystems, this collected data will then be replayed via Bluetooth 4.1 to the accompanying Huawei TalkBand app.

With a 90mAh battery promising 5-days of continued use between charges, this IP57 certified dust and water resistant wearable has been designed to integrate within all facets of your daily work/life balance.

The Huawei TalkBand B2 will be available in a trio of colour schemes at launch, the plastic strapped black and silver offerings and a gold bodied model with a brown leather strap.

Firmed up pricing and release date details are currently unclear.
