Huawei Announces MediaPad Tablet And Vision Smartphone

Huawei has announced its latest Android tablet and smartphone
for the UK
market but the tablet won’t be avaialble until early next year.

The Huawei MediaPad is a 7in tablet which was first seen in
the US
last June, and features a 7in capacitive touchscreen using the rather excellent
IPS technology seen on the iPad.

It will run a mostly vanilla version of Android 3.2, and
while the new Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) would have been preferable, at
least Huawei hasn’t tweaked too much with the Android interface.

The MediaPad will have a dual-core 1.2GHz processor from
Qualcomm, a front-facing 1.3 megapixel camera and a 5 megapixel camera on the
rear. It will also have a HDMI port to let you watch your films or photos on a bigger
screen.

The MediaPad will be arriving in shops in Q1 2012 with a
price tag of £275 excluding VAT, which while cheap is certainly not as cheap as
we might have expected.

Moving onto the Huawei Vision smartphone, it will be a 3.7in
handset which is the successor to the Huawei Blaze. Again it won’t be shipping with Android 4.0 when it launches, but instead a tweaked version of Android 2.3 –
with Huawei’s own 3D interface.

Huawei Vision

The Huawei Vision will have a 1GHz processor, 512MB or RAM
and 2GB of local storage expandable by a further 32GB via microSD. The slim
handset will be just 9.9mm wide and will come with a 5 megapixel camera capable
of shooting 720p video.

Huawei Vision

The Huawei Vision will be available before Christmas exclusively
at Phone4U in silver, rose gold and charcoal and will be available free on a
£25-a-month. Other networks will be offering the phone from Q1 2012.
