HTC teases HTC One Mini launch with new blog post

HTC has all-but-confirmed the existence of the long-rumoured, often leaked HTC One Mini smartphone, in a blog post on its official site on Monday.

The post, entitled “Little Things That Pack A BIG Punch” features an entertaining info-graphic detailing petite items that are more powerful than their size would suggest.

Notables include the mighty Tyrion Lannister from Game of Thrones, the golf ball-sized Trinidad Scorpion Moruga Pepper that’s 250 times hotter than a jalapeno and the 5ft 8″ NBA star who won the slam dunk contest in 1988.

All that would seem to suggest that the HTC One Mini, when its eventually confirmed, will bring power and specs uncommon to its reduced physical size.

The text accompanying the post details how the company wants to bring the HTC One experience to as many people as possible, presumably those who don’t wish to carry a 4.7-inch super-phone around in their jeans pocket, or pay that little bit extra for the privilege.

It reads: “The HTC One, nearly everyone agrees, is the pinnacle of smartphone achievement. The beautiful metal design, powerful hardware, and innovative user experience pack a lot into a svelte package, making it hit with critics and consumers alike. This success has only boosted our passion to bring the One experience to as many people as possible. In that spirit, here’s an homage to little things that back a big punch.”

The post caused a little confusion on Monday as it was swiftly deleted just minutes after it was posted to the site. However, it was soon re-posted.  Perhaps HTC did indeed post it by accident and decided it might as well run with it once the cat was out of the bag? Perhaps the plan was always to go live on Monday? We’ll never know.

Regardless, it’s the strongest indication yet that the less imposing, little brother of the brilliant HTC One and rival to the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini is seemingly real and it’s coming soon.

Earlier on Monday, photos of the device and rumoured specs were leaked onto the web, predicting a 4.3-inch 720p screen and a 1.4GHz dual-core processor. All that’s left now is for HTC to actually announce the thing.
