HTC One Android 4.4 update confirmed for late January
A HTC One Android 4.4 update has been confirmed, with the Taiwanese handset manufacturer announcing the software patch will be rolled out in late January.
With the smartphone maker having earlier this month confirmed that the HTC One Android 4.4 update would be made available “within 90 days,” the company has now narrowed down its predictions, stating a late January introduction is on the cards.
“
Having launched alongside the Google Nexus 5 late last month, the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system offers a number of new features and improvements over the current Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS.
Although destined for the HTC One in around two months, a Google Nexus 4 Android 4.4 update was rolled out yesterday, November 21.
“This software update will upgrade your Nexus 4 to Android 4.4, KitKat, which adds a number of new features and improves performance,” the update’s product description stated. Highlighting some of the new features it adds: “Never miss a message with Hangouts, which can now bring all of your SMS and MMS messages alongside your other conversations and video calls.”
Suggesting that the company will push harder to ensure future software updates are made available to its flagship phones in double-quick fashion, HTC spokespeople recently stated that all future releases will be rolled out within 90 days.
“We’re not going to [roll out updates] in a lazy fashion,” Jason Mackenzie, President of HTC America said in a recent interview. “We’re going to make it a priority to have every dot release out on the One within 90 days.”
