HTC M7 launch date set for February ahead of MWC

HTC M7 smartphone will be launched in a London-based event on February 19, according to an industry insider.

The new HTC M7 handset was expected to be revealed at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) at the end of next month, but it seems that the HTC M7 could be announced at a dedicated event based in London before then.

News of the HTC M7 launch has been leaked by industry insider, Flavio, via Twitter. “[Exclusive] HTC M7 to be launched during a dedicated event on February 19th, probably in London, not at #MWC13,” he tweeted. The mobile phone and app reviewer said he couldn’t reveal his sources, but added “let’s say that with many years of work in the field I have my connections.”

HTC has yet to confirm the launch rumours, but it wouldn’t be the first time the phone manufacturer launched a phone in London.

HTC M7 Features
The HTC M7 features are rumoured to keep the HTC One X 4.7-inch display but will upgrade to a full HD 1080p resolution.

A necessarily upgraded 1.7GHz quad-core processor will power that new crystal clear screen, which may be up to 40 per cent sharper than those featured in its rivals the Apple iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S3. The HTC M7 will reportedly also have 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.

The speculated camera will boast an impressive 13 megapixels offering a ‘Cinesensor’ image sensor, and slo-mo and HDR video capabilities.

Finally, the HTC M7 should run on Android Jelly Bean coupled with an all new upgraded Sense UI, dubbed Sense 5.

Do you think HTC is making a wise move to launch its new flagship handset pre-MWC? Would you buy the HTC M7 over a Samsung Galaxy S4? Let us know in the comments section below.
