HTC Excalibur Throws Down With Motorola Q

Leaked pictures leave us sweaty and more than a little excited.

The theory behind smart phones makes me tingle in all the right places but – with the possible exception of the TyTN or potentially Samsung’s SGH-i320 – the fantasy remains better than the reality. Could my favourite handset maker be about to change this?

Smartphone Thoughts managed snag an exclusive picture of the HTC ‘Excalibur’, a Windows Mobile based handset which is just 2mm wider than the i320 (13.5mm v 11.5mm) but appears to pack a lot more features.

They report this will be quad-band device and we’re heard HSDPA connectivity should be in there too. WiFi is also confirmed and by slightly curving the keyboard the Excalibur looks to sport a larger thumbboard. Another neat feature being widely reported is the role of the grey strip on the right side of this screen. Allegedly this will be touch sensitive and replace the need for a jog/scroll wheel.

Naturally enough all the most juicy details: weight, battery life, camera, processor, memory not to mention a release date and pricing remain a closely guarded secret but I think there’s enough here to suggest – major blips apart – that this could be a top notch handset.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I find myself suddenly tingling in all the right places…
