The HTC Desire 200 has been quietly launched on the HTC website as an entry-level device with 3.5-inch display.
Looking to build on the success of the HTC Desire launched in 2011, the HTC Desire 200 packs a range of low-end specs that are more than sufficient for a budget device.
Supporting the low-entry price point to complement the flagship HTC One, the HTC Desire 200 hasn’t been given any pricing or availability details yet, so we’ll have to wait and see how it compares to the successful original HTC Desire.
HTC Desire 200 Features
The HTC Desire 200 features a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 processor with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. It has a microSD expansion slot that supports memory cards up to 32GB in size.
With a screen size of 3.5-inches, the LCD display offers low 320 x 480p resolutions running an unidentified version of Google’s Android OS with HTC’s own Sense UI skin overlaid.
It has a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera with fixed focus, f/2.8 aperture and 34mm lens that HTC claims includes “intuitive camera technology”.
Packing Beat Audio technology, the HTC Desire 200 will ship with Beats in-ear headphones and feature the front-facing speakers like the HTC One.
Powered by a 1,230mAh battery, the entry-level handset has Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity and weighs just 100g.
A little larger than a credit card (helpfully demonstrated on the HTC website), the HTC Desire 200 has dimensions of 107.7 x 60.8 x 11.9mm.
If HTC launches the Desire 200 with an appropriately low price tag, the handset should be a preferable option to other budget Android device, especially due to its pretty decent build quality and styling. Both of which helped towards the original Desire’s success.
