HTC confirms smartwatch plans, but will not launch leaked wearable
HTC has confirmed that it is working on its own smartwatch device, just not the metal, square-faced unit which leaked earlier this week.
With the Taiwanese manufacturer having recently released a video highlighting its design philosophies, some eagle-eyed viewers caught a glimpse of a smartwatch the manufacturer looked to be working on.
Although fitting with further recent leaks – pairing a square face with a metal body and strap and Google’s Android Wear OS – HTC has now debunked claims it has any plans to launch the teased wearable.
“
“It in no way indicates an actual product HTC is planning to release.”
Although debunking claims the leaks, metal bodied smartwatch is heading to market, HTC has confirmed that it is indeed working on its own smartwatch efforts to rival the likes of the LG G Watch and Samsung Gear Live.
They added: “Keep an eye on this space for exciting new products from HTC when they are ready to be announced!”
While further confirmed details have not been forthcoming, recent leaks have claimed the company’s first smartwatch will touch down this autumn under the moniker of the HTC One Wear.
