Sorry to say, but it’s unlikely you’ll see a real, working lightsaber on the shelves of your local ASDA any time soon.
Fortunately, you can still embrace Star Wars technology thanks to a new ‘Force Awakens’-inspired laptop, courtesy of HP.
It’s called – unsurprisingly – the HP Star Wars Special Edition Notebook, and goes on sale in the UK in October.
The laptop is purportedly inspired by the Galactic Empire – a bit like North Korea – and features a “battle-worn” distressed design.
The actual phrase ‘Galactic Empire’ is also written on the hinge in the Star Wars Aurebesh font.
Quirky space design doesn’t stop there, mind.
“HP is delivering an amazing Star Wars experience as the only PC vendor collaborating with Disney and Lucasfilm to create a one-of-a-kind notebook,” says Louis Perrin, director of consumer products at HP.
Perrin continues: “As part of this relationship, we were able to tap into Lucasfilm’s media archives to create custom screen savers, desktop backgrounds and sound profiles – configurable by the customer.”
It’s all in celebration of the seventh Star Wars movie, The Force Awakens, which has a UK release date of December 18, 2015.

Right, onto specs. You’re looking at a choice of sixth-generation Intel Core i5/i7 processors, up to 2TB of storage, a maximum 12GB of RAM, and either Intel HD Graphics 520 or dedicated Nvidia GeForce 940M graphics.
HP claims the laptop can offer 7 hours of battery life, and ships with a 15.6-inch Full HD display.
The notebook also features an optical drive, and Bang & Olufsen-tuned audio squeezed out of a dual-speaker setup.
And if that wasn’t enough, you can also pick up a bonus Star Wars sleeve for £29.99.
The notebook itself, meanwhile, will set you back £549 for the most basic setup.
