If you like PDAs you'll like this. If you don't, well, you won't.
It’s probably not the best way to start an article about PDAs by saying I’ve never really got on with the format, but there you go. They’re weird and that’s all there is to it.
I know there are a great many of you who do like these curious-soon-to-be-swallowed-by-the-smartphone-devices though and this being the case you’ll love the leaked specs on the new iPAQ hw6900 series.
Manufacturer HP was the surprising party to ‘accidentally’ spill the details on its website earlier this week and they add up to a rather significant whole. Two models – the hw6920 and hw6925 – will be imminently available and come crammed with Quad band, WiFi (802.11b), Bluetooth and Infrared connectivity, there’s also GPS, a 3in 64k colour screen, 1.3MP camera and miniSD card expansion slot.
An Intel PXA270 416MHz processor pushes the Windows Mobile 5.0 along and an optional 1800 mAh extended battery can be purchased in addition to the 1200 mAh one that comes in the box. The Microsoft Office Mini Me edition is preinstalled and there’s enough juice to run Skype which will be important for all of you who find speaking to fellow members of the human race a necessary part of life.
If I liked PDAs I’d be rather thrilled to know that the hw6900 series is expected in the next couple of months but I don’t, so I’m not.
