HP 2133 Official Specs Leaked

More UMPC than Sub-notebook it seems.

Tantalising as the upgrades to the Eee PC sound, they’ve got nothing on the specs of the HP 2133 Mini-Note which appear to have leaked out. If Engadget’s source is to be believed, the forthcoming sub-notebook-cum-UMPC is going to pack some interesting and compelling components into an equally compelling chassis.

Processor-wise it’s suggested that either a 1.2GHz or 1.6GHz VIA C7-M will be coupled with 1GB or 2GB of RAM and either a 120GB or 160GB hard drive. The screen should be an 8.9in affair with a fantastic (especially compared to rival systems) 1,280 x 768 resolution. Assuming that holds true it will prove a real plus point.

On the connectivity front, WiFi and Bluetooth are expected to be sported, while operating system options should include either SuSE Linux or Windows Vista. Depending on the system configuration either Business or Home Basic versions of Vista will be installed.

Pricing is also, as one would expect, varied by spec. The base model, Linux-running, should supposedly cost $549 (about £280), while the same spec with Vista Business is expected to be $50 more. Moving to a 1.6GHz processor, 6-cell battery and 2GB RAM brings the price up to $749 (£380-odd). As with the above, availability isn’t confirmed, but is rumoured to be the 7th of April in the US. Hopefully UK pricing and release dates will surface soon too.
