How to install Microsoft Edge extensions in Windows 10

Microsoft’s eagerly anticipated Windows 10 Anniversary Update is currently rolling out, and one of the best new features coming to Windows 10 is the ability to install extensions in the Edge browser.

Microsoft Edge, the replacement for Internet Explorer, has been well received and thanks to the update, the web browser is set to become even better with support for extensions.

Although only a few are available right now, extensions can be downloaded from the Windows Store with ease – here’s just how easy it is to download, install and manage them.

Once you’ve opened your browser, click on the three-dotted menu in the top right corner and find the Extensions option towards the bottom.

When you’ve installed some extensions, this is where you’ll see what you’re running, but for now, click the ‘Get extensions from the store’ to see what’s available to download.

Right now, the list isn’t that extensive but there are a few big names on offer like AdBlock, Amazon Assistant, Evernote Web Clipper, and Office Online, plus Mouse Gestures and a Pin It button, among others.

Click the Free button and when you head back into to Edge, a pop-up will appear prompting you to “turn it on”.

Once installed, extensions will appear in Edge’s menu. You can either click on it to activate it, or for quicker access, right click or long-press it to put it next to your address bar to save going into the menu each time.

You can also click on the cog wheel to configure more options, review the extension, or uninstall it, should you not be impressed with its functionality.

There you have it. Piece of cake, right?
