This PS4 controller is perfect for Xbox One converts

Moving from one games console to another these days can be a fairly painless experience thanks to multi-platform games and solid online services for both PlayStation and Xbox.
But things get tricky when it comes to getting used to a new console’s controller. The Xbox One’s controller is an improved version of the critically-acclaimed Xbox 360 controller with off-axis control joysticks, while the PlayStation’s 4’s DualShock 4 controller is a marked improvement over its predecessor, it features on-axis joysticks and a mildly different button layout.
As such going from an Xbox 360 or Xbox One to a PS4 could be a bit of a change when it comes to controller comfort.
That’s until now. Sony has revealed the Onyx Wireless Controller, built in partnership with peripherals maker Hori, which looks like the DualShock 4 and Xbox one controllers had a child after a wild night of passion.
It borrows the asymmetrical joystick layout from the Xbox One controller yet still manages to fit in the DualShock 4’s touch sensitive centre bar and share and options buttons, which now sit below rather than on each side of the ‘clickable’ touch bar.
The D-pad sit below the left-hand joystick and is a single cross shape rather than being made up of separate buttons as it the case with the DualShock 4.
Currently on sale through Amazon for £44.99, the Hori Onyx Wireless Controller might not appeal to dyed in the wool PlayStation fans. But it could be the controller Xbox One gamers, keen to make the switch to Sony’s camp, have been waiting for.
