Microsoft has finally confirmed how much it’ll cost Brits and Europeans to buy Windows 10 if they aren’t entitled to a free upgrade.
The firm has long-promised PC users on Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 will get the revolutionary new OS on the house, but anyone on Windows XP or Vista will need to fork over some cash.
In the UK, we now know that amounts to £99.99 for Windows 10 Home, compared with $129/€155, meaning Brits and Europeans will be handing over more than their American cousins.
There’s still no news on how much Windows 10 Pro – which is priced at $199 across the pond – will cost in Europe and the UK, but it’s sure to be more than the direct £126/€177 currency conversions.
Once that period has expired, anyone still left on Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 will need to pay for a license just like everyone else.
Earlier this week, Microsoft moved to clear up confusion over who would get a free upgrade. The firm says those Windows Insider beta testers on Vistsa/XP will continue to gain access as long as they opt into receive pre-release updates.
Those wanting the finished consumer software will have to roll back to their previous OS and then buy a new license for Windows 10.
