Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is out today − here’s how to download it

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, a new mobile game focused around playing through the world of Hogwarts as a regular student, has finally been released today after months of anticipation.

Despite the name, it’s unlikely that ‘The Boy Who Lived’ himself will actually appear in the title. The game is set in the 1980s in the decade prior to Harry, Ron and Hermione attending the school. We’d be surprised if Voldemort didn’t get a mention, but the focus of the game is much more ‘business as usual’ for the wizarding school.

So if you’re not fighting Voldemort and his supporters, then what are you getting up to in the game? Being a student, pretty much. You’ll take transfiguration classes with Professor McGonagall, potions classes with Professor Snape, and charms with Professor Flitwick.

The game also sees the return of some of the key actors from the films including Dame Maggie Smith, who played McGonagall across the eight movies produced by Warner Brothers.

How to download Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery

Hogwarts Mystery is a free to play game, which means downloading it is a simple case of going on either the App Store or Google Play Store on your phone and clicking the download button.

In our experience both app stores are currently filled with wizarding-themed knock-offs, so you’re best off following the direct links above rather than trying to search for the game using the app store’s search option.

After that, you’re in, and you can start re-exploring the sprawling universe.
