Halo: Reach could soon be playable on Xbox One

Halo: Reach may be coming to Xbox One via backwards compatibility, teased Xbox’s Phil Spencer.

Players hoping for the opportunity to play Halo: Reach on their Xbox One may be in luck.

The title could soon be playable thanks to the console’s backwards compatibility feature, which is currently in development.

Xbox Boss Phil Spencer told a fan on Twitter, “I’d like to see it come back via backwards compatibility.”

The fan also asked if Reach could become part of Halo: The Master Chief Collection at some point in the future, or if it will receive an “Anniversary” treatment similar to Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2.

Spencer did not comment on the above points, but said it is more likely to come through backwards compatibility.

Since the launch of Halo: The Master Chief Collection last Autumn, many players have questioned the absence of Halo: Reach on the Xbox One.

The final Halo title ever to be developed by Bungie, Halo: Reach was excluded from the collection for not starring Master Chief.

Microsoft is well aware that fans are eager to play Halo: Reach on Xbox One:

“I think enough people have asked about it that we are thinking about it,” executive producer Dan Ayoub said in 2014 about bringing Reach and ODST to the Xbox One.

Halo: ODST has since been added to the collection, which can be purchased from the Xbox Live Marketplace.

Halo 5: Guardians is set to launch on October 27. the very same day as the Xbox One Elite Controller.
