Halo creator Bungie teases new title with first official Destiny images

Halo creator and developer Bungie has released the first pictures of its next gaming project with an official Destiny image being unveiled following a series of leaks.

The company responsible for one of the most iconic gaming franchises to date, Bungie parted ways with the Halo series following the Halo Reach launch with this month’s Halo 4 release having been developed by 343 Industries. The newly unveiled Destiny picture marks the first official glimpse at the developer’s next project.

Responding to a recent series of leaks and premature unveilings, Bungie has released the first Destiny concept art images alongside a short statement suggesting more details on the eagerly awaited title will be confirmed in the near future.

“Go ahead. Take a peek. It’s alright. We weren’t quite ready, but we will be soon, and we can’t wait to finally show you what we’ve really been up to,” the company’s official statement said.

Destiny Rumours
One of the most hotly anticipated games on the horizon, little is currently known about Bungie’s upcoming Destiny offering with a Destiny release date, or even what generation platforms the game will launch for, having yet to be confirmed.

Despite the lack of concrete information, a selection of recent Destiny leaks have offered a tantalising insight into the game’s possibilities with a number of plot lines and story outlines having been seemingly confirmed.

Quoting a leaked document that it claims “Bungie has confirmed was prepared by an advertising agency and represents an outside look at Destiny’s plot, key values and more,” IGN has revealed a selection of Destiny details.

“Our story begins seven hundred years from now in the Last City on Earth, in a Solar System littered with the ruins of man’s Golden Age,” the leaked promotional document reportedly states.” A massive, mysterious alien ship hangs overhead like a second Moon. No one knows where it came from or what it’s here for, but only that it’s our protector.

“Meanwhile, strange, alien monsters creep in from the edge of the universe, determined to take Earth and the Last City. We are young ‘knights’ tasked with defending the remains of humanity, discovering the source of these monsters and – eventually – overcoming it.”

Described as “fun and accessible to all” with “social at its core,” the upcoming Destiny release is said to “create a universe as deep, tangible and relatable as that of the Star Wars franchise.

“Destiny is designed for your inner seven year old. We want to make it feel like a mythic adventure,” the prematurely released statement added.
