Gululu is an interactive water bottle for kids

It’s important to drink enough water, but good luck convincing a child of that. Gululu can help though – it’s a water bottle aimed at kids that adds an interactive element.

Each bottle features a different virtual pet, Tamagotchi-style. As your child drinks water, the virtual pet grows, collects treasures and explores an underwater world of adventure known as the Gululu Universe. You can even shake two nearby Gululu bottles to make the pets make friends and start playing together.

Kids can compare their hydration scores, gamifying the whole experience.

This isn’t pure guesswork either – the app sets hydration goals based on your child’s age, weight and location.

The bottle charges wirelessly. Just plonk it on its base and it’ll juice up – no pun intended – in three hours. When full charged, you’ll get two to three days of use from it.

Its rubberised case can survive knocks and being dropped, and it won’t spill when it topples over.

The aim is to instil good water drinking habits in your child that last a lifetime. Parents can also choose times to disable the animated pets, so they don’t distract from schoolwork or after bedtime.

It’s passed its $100,000 funding goal and still has 37 days to go. Pledge $89 (£61) and it can be yours on an early bird. It’ll ship in September.
