Box art for the as yet unconfirmed GTA 5 Xbox One and PS4 box art has appeared on Amazon Germany.
Although the images have since been taken down, the Xbox One and PS4 editions of GTA 5 were spotted on the site for a short while.
Of course, we expect both of the next-gen box art are purely mock-ups, especially seeing as the PS4 version has a picture of the Xbox 360 hard drive on it.
However, Amazon is a fairly creditable source and the pages have now been removed, so there may be an ounce of truth to an Xbox One and PS4 release for GTA 5.
Rockstar Games has already said GTA 5 definitely has a ‘next-generation’ feel to it, but has repeatedly stated that no Xbox One or PS4 release is planned for the near future.
“Compared to GTA 4, [GTA 5] definitely feels ‘next-generation’ to us,” said Phil Hooker, Associate Technical Director of Rockstar North. “When we started we knew the scope of GTA 5 was huge and incredibly ambitious. Fortunately from complete GTA 4 we had a team that was already very familiar with the hardware.”
A duo of next-generation releases for GTA 5 may well come with time though, with the developer hinting such launches are in their thoughts.
“We’ll get the current gen version out first and see what happens in the future,” said Leslie Benzies, President of Rockstar North. “We already have plans for what the next world holds in terms of missions, new content, clothes, apartments, for the next while.”
Although Nvidia announced a GTA 5 PC edition would be arriving sometime this autumn, Rockstar hasn’t officially confirmed whether the game will be available to PC gamers yet.
The September 17 GTA 5 release date just around the corner and with the Xbox One and PS4 release dates scheduled for November, there could be next-gen editions sooner than expected.
