GTA 5 iFruit launched as game companion app
Rockstar Games has launched the official GTA 5 companion app, entitled Grand Theft Auto: iFruit.
The iFruit companion app directly influences your GTA 5 experience and will enhance some of the gameplay if you choose to spend time with the app, providing you can tear yourself away from GTA 5 itself.
Available now from the App Store, the GTA 5 iFruit app is a hearty 444MB download with an age restriction of 17-years of age.
The app is free to download for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch users and offers gamers a couple of mini-games that can directly influence aspects of the main GTA 5 game.
Firstly, gamers can customise their in-game vehicles with paint jobs, brakes, exhausts and more from outside the game. They can also create personalised number plates to use in Grand Theft Auto Online when it comes out on October 1.
“The Los Santos Customs app offers players the freedom to create their ultimate vehicle in Grand Theft Auto V from anywhere. At the bar, on the beach, on the toilet. This is the future, we’re almost sure of it.”
Players will also be able to look after Chop the Dog, Franklin’s canine BFF in GTA 5, as part of the iFruit app.
“Look after him well in the ‘Chop the Dog’ app and you will reap the benefits when playing as Franklin in Grand Theft Auto V. Pet him, feed and water him, play fetch and tug-of-war, teach him tricks. Too much or too little of an activity, however, will cause Chop to become unhappy, and nobody like an unhappy Rottweiler.”
Players will also have to take him for a walk, where he will mark his territory, defend “his ladies” and protect the “beach babes of Los Santos from unsightly tan lines by removing their bikinis.”
Looking after the Tamagotchi version of Chop will offer additional benefits within GTA 5, including the Rottweiler being more helpful and responsive. He will also sniff out hidden items and perform tricks if you’ve trained him well using the iFruit app.
