GTA 5 hits new sales milestone and it’s a biggie

Rockstar’s open world epic knows no bounds, with physical GTA 5 sales having now topped a staggering 5m units in the UK alone.
According to the latest Chart-Track figures, the game, originally released in 2013, continues to sell, lining up as the UK’s third highest selling game of the past seven days.
The game’s ongoing sales performances can be attributed, at least in part, to its slow rollout across platforms.
Having originally launched for PS3 and Xbox 360, GTA 5 came to Xbox One and PS4 late last year before eventually hitting PCs in recent weeks.
Rockstar is no stranger to milestone figures and sales records. Within three days of launch the game had already generated more than $1 billion in revenue, becoming the fastest-selling entertainment product in history in the process.
This lofty record was quickly backed up by many more. The latest Grand Theft Auto instalment became the UK’s fast-selling game five days after launch with 2.25 million units sold.

At the end of 2014, some 45 million copies of GTA 5 had been sold globally.
The GTA 5 PC edition finally hit retailers last month after a series of longstanding delays.
