GTA 5 ‘feels next-gen’ despite continued Xbox One and PS4 omission says Rockstar
Ahead of the imminent GTA 5 release date, publisher Rockstar has claimed that the game ‘feels next-gen’ despite no GTA 5 Xbox One or PS4 plans being confirmed.
Set to go on sale on September 17, now just a little over a week away, GTA 5 will be made available for Xbox 360 and PS3 at launch, with Rockstar even failing to bring the high profile title to PC users, much to the dismay of many avid gamers.
“When we started we knew the scope of GTA 5 was huge and incredibly ambitious,” Hooker said speaking with IGN. “Fortunately from completing GTA 4 we had a team that was already very familiar with the hardware.
He added: “Every aspect of the game had to be better, richer in gameplay and more fluid and knowing we were launching on the same platforms meant we could focus on extracting the most out of those consoles and making the game as fantastic as possible.
“In the end we surpassed our own expectations and during development I think everyone working on the game has been astounded by improvements to the graphics, or new mechanics, or AI, or mission scope along the way. Hopefully the gamers will see all of these improvements at once in one go.”
Earlier this week it emerged that GTA 5 pre-orders could miss release date arrival as Rockstar imposes new shipping restrictions. In a bid to stop gamers getting their hands on the game early, Rockstar has requested retailer do not ship GTA 5 pre-orders until September 16, the day before the game is available in shops. This last minute shipping has caused concerns that some might not arrive in time for release day.
Although claiming that the game ‘feels next-gen’ on current consoles, Rockstar continues to remain cautious on it intentions to bring GTA 5 to Xbox One and PS4.
Series producer Leslie Benzies recently stated that the company will see “what happens in the future” but at the moment it is focused on getting “the current gen version out first.”
