Grand Theft Auto 5 has now shipped a grand total of 80 million units worldwide across all platforms.
First launching in September 2013, Rockstar Games’ open-world masterpiece is now one of the best selling games of all time by quite a wide margin.
The new sales milestone was announced during Take-Two Interactive’s earnings call earlier this week. CEO Strauss Zelnick said GTA V and GTA Online “outperformed expectations during the fourth quarter as they have in every period since they released.”
Due to the continued success of GTA 5, Zelnick confirmed that Rockstar has “much more” planned in terms of future updates for the title.

As it stands, GTA 5 currently lags behind the likes of Wii Sports, Minecraft and Tetris as the best-selling game of all time.
Its continued success is probably quite a relief to Take-Two and Rockstar, who earlier this week delayed Red Dead Redemption 2 to Spring 2018 despite having previous plans to launch this year.
