Google Photos now makes albums for you

Google Photos will now create albums from scratch for you.

The latest update for Google’s epic cloud-based photo service has added a useful new feature.

We’ve all been on holidays where you take hundreds of pictures, then can’t face the prospect of editing them down into a coherent album when you return. Google has the answer.

Now, whenever you upload a bunch of new photos from a trip or holiday, Google Photos will create a curated album just for you. It’ll pick out what it deems to be the best shots, and add related maps and location pins to illustrate your travels.

In addition, any existing albums can have these maps and location pins added to them.

You can then add captions yourself, and bring in other people to collaborate and add their own photos.

It’s been almost a year since the Google Photos service first rolled out, providing an impressive cloud-based photo management system. Chief among its appealing attributes was its free and unlimited online storage (for photos up to 16-megapixels) and its intelligent search system.

For example, typing in ‘beach’ will bring up all of your photos taken on beaches. You can also throw in place names to narrow the search down.

The new Google Photos update is rolling out now for Android, iOS, and the web.
