Google Nexus 7 Tablet Leaked

It’s looking ever more likely that a 7 inch Google branded tablet will be arriving soon, and we may even have seen what it will look like.

Specs and pictures apparently of the tablet, which is expected to be called the Nexus 7, have been sent to Gizmodo Australia in the form of a training document.

While still highly unreliable, most of the details do tie-in with previous rumours we’ve heard about, such as it being built by Asus, sporting the name Nexus 7 and having a 7 inch display. Also in the document it suggests the tablet will have a 1280 x 800 pixel resolution, 1.3GHz quad-core Tegra 3 preocssor, a 1.2MP front facing camera, NFC, 1GB of RAM and either 8GB or 16GB of storage.

All this would put it on par with many other Android tablets but crucially it’s expected to cost a mere $199. Also, it’s expected that the tablet will run a new version of Android. Currently the newest version is Android 4.0 (codenamed Ice Cream Sandwich) but this new tablet should be running Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean).

It’s looking likely that if such a device exists it’ll be unveiled at at the Google I/O developer event later this week. Starting on Wednesday, we’ll be on hand to report all the latest goings on.
