Google Nexus 5 price tipped to be sub £200

The Google Nexus 5 price has leaked, with tipsters suggesting the Google Nexus 4 replacement will set wannabe owners back less than £200 on a SIM-free basis.

With a raft of Google Nexus 5 rumours having done the rounds in recent weeks, the phone’s specs sheet and features list has been all but confirmed. Now, however, the details that really matter to a lot of consumers are starting to surface, with the Google Nexus 5 price leaking online.

With the latest Google Nexus 5 price leaks being attributed to an anonymous tipster, PhoneArena has claimed that the upcoming handset will run eager owners less than £200 at launch, a price which would see it gain a major advantage over the rival HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4.

Although a US Google Nexus 5 price has been provided so far, the claimed $299 and $399 fees for the 16GB and 32GB versions of the phone equate to roughly £186 and £248 respectively.

With the Google Nexus 4 having grabbed consumers’ attentions with its combination of high-end innards and budget pricing, last year’s Google phone cost £239 for the 8GB version and £279 for the 16GB option at launch. These fees were later dropped to just £159 and £199

Interestingly, it has been suggested that the two capacity options of Google Nexus 5 will also differ in their battery size. While the 16GB version is said to sport a 2300mAh Lithium-Polymer battery, this will reportedly be down on the 32GB phone’s 3000mAh offering.

Last week claimed Google insiders reportedly suggested that the Google Nexus 5 price would be “half the price” of the iPhone 5S, a claim that would fit with the newly tipped costs.

Google Nexus 5 Features

Shaping up to be one of the most impressive handsets on the market, the Google Nexus 5 features list will reportedly benefit from a 5-inch 1080p Full HD display alongside a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor.

Further leaks Google Nexus 5 specs have seen an 8-megapixel rear-mounted camera tipped alongside a 1.6-megapixel secondary snapper up front and 2GB of RAM.

It is widely believed that the Google Nexus 5 will become the first handset to run the recently announced Android 4.4 KitKat operating system. A Google Nexus 5 release date has been mooted for later this month, with an October 14 unveiling widely expected.
