New Google Nexus 5 leaks have hit the web, pointing at an upcoming 5.2-inch handset that like the Google Nexus 4 before it will be manufactured by LG.
Despite a slightly tumultuous relationship between the two companies, latest reports have suggested that the Google Nexus 5 will see the search giant once again join forces with manufacturing partner LG, with the result seemingly set to be an even larger, more powerful flagship Android handset.
Widely expected to be formally unveiled at Google I/O 2013, which runs between May 15 and 17, the Google Nexus 5 is said to have appeared in a leaked internal document, reportedly sent by an unnamed Google employee to the folks at AndroidandMe.
Tipped to be the first device to come packing the upcoming Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie operating system, although the leaked image shows LG branding on the Nexus 5, the unnamed sources have suggest Google is “currently evaluating several prototypes from different manufactures.”
Running under the codename “Megalodon,” the claimed Google Nexus 5 leaks have also offering a tantalising insight into the handset’s potential specs sheet with the Google Nexus 4 replacement reportedly set to play host to an expansive 5.2-inch OLED display with a 1920 x 1080p Full HD display.
A device that will go head-to-head with the newly unveiled Samsung Galaxy S4, the Google Nexus 5 specs sheet is said to be bolstered by a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processer, a somewhat circumspect 3GB of RAM, and the revised option of 16GB, 32GB or 64GB storage options.
What’s more, the handset has been tipped to feature a 16-megapixel rear-mounted camera with 1080p Full HD video recording capabilities alongside a 2.1-megapixel forward-facing snapper. With a 3,300mAh Lithium Polymer battery thrown into the mix alongside integrated stereo speakers as the Google Nexus 5 looks set to be a true powerhouse of the smartphone scene.
Although having partnered with LG for the Google Nexus 4, it has been suggested that Google would move to a different manufacturer for the Google Nexus 5 after the two companies repeatedly blamed each other for repeatedly depleted Google Nexus 4 stocks.
What’s more, having forgone partners with the recently launch Google Chromebook Pixel, is has been mooted that Google could begin manufacturing its own smartphones and tablets in the near future.
