Google Nexus 4 sold out again

Just hours after Google Nexus 4 UK sales were reopened, the 8GB iteration of the Android 4.2 handset has once again sold out, Google has confirmed.

With Google Nexus 4 sales getting back underway at 5pm yesterday, December 4, Google has confirmed that the 8GB device is once again unavailable in the UK, with those interested in the 16GB Google Nexus 4 facing 5-6 week shipping waits. The Google Nexus 4 had previously been unavailable for purchase since the original November 13 Google Nexus 4 release date stock sold out within 30 minutes.

Despite having limited customers to just one device per storage capacity, Google is yet again facing stock shortages of its latest flagship handset with consumers venting their frustrations at being unable to snap up one of the high-spec, cut-priced smartphones ahead of Christmas.

Confirming the inbound stock just hours before the 5pm sales kicked off, Google yesterday sent an email alert to anyone who had registered interest in the Samsung Galaxy S3 and iPhone 5 rivalling handset stating simply: “Nexus 4 will be available for purchase later today.”

With stocks depleted from the Google Play Store, those looking to snap up the Google Nexus 4 ahead of the festive period will now be forced to turn their efforts to the more costly networks and third party retailers. With O2’s month long period of exclusivity on the device expiring on December 13, Three and Carphone Warehouse have already revealed their Google Nexus 4 deals, neither of which can compete with the Google Play Store’s £239 and £279 SIM-free Google Nexus 4 prices for the 8GB and 16GB models respectively.

Google Nexus 4 Features

Despite playing host to a wallet-friendly, low-end price point, the Google Nexus 4 specs are high-end handset rivalling with the device packing not only Google’s latest Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS, but a zippy 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor.

On top of this, the Google Nexus 4 features list is bolstered by a 4.7-inch WXGA IPS display that boasts a stunning 1280 x 768p resolution and 320ppi image density. With Corning Gorilla Glass 2 thrown into the mix for protection against everyday knocks, drops and bumps, the Google Nexus 4 adds 2GB of RAM and a 2,100mAh Lithium polymer battery.

Lining up at just 9.1mm thick and a mere 139g in weight, the Google Nexus 4 camera contingent is made up of an 8-megapixel rear-mounted snapper with integrated LED flash, and a second 1.3-megapixel offering on the device’s fore.
