Google Nexus 4 sales top 1m milestone despite stock shortages
Google Nexus 4 sales have topped the 1 million unit milestone marker despite continuing stock shortages, latest figures have suggested.
Despite the handset having been unavailable and listed as ‘out of stock’ for much of the time since its November 13 release, figures compiled by the XDA Developers Forum have revealed that the 999,998th Google Nexus 4 was produced earlier this week on February 5.
“Ladies and gentlemen, we just reached the millionth device,” the developer posting stated. The somewhat speculative report tentatively added: “of course just judging by serial number.”
Discovered via the handset’s IMEI number, the landmark Google Nexus 4 sale was reportedly made in Turkey. Google has yet to offer an official statement on the Google Nexus 4 sales figures.
With the Google Nexus 4 currently back in stock through the UK arm of the Google Play Store, reports of the handset’s millionth unit sale have been paired with further insight into production levels of the in demand device. Suggesting that just 70,000 Google Nexus 4 handsets were produced in October ahead of launch, it has been claimed that production has increased to meet demand with 550,000 of the iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S3 rivals crafted in January.
