Google Nexus 4 sales top 1m milestone despite stock shortages

Google Nexus 4 sales have topped the 1 million unit milestone marker despite continuing stock shortages, latest figures have suggested.

Despite the handset having been unavailable and listed as ‘out of stock’ for much of the time since its November 13 release, figures compiled by the XDA Developers Forum have revealed that the 999,998th Google Nexus 4 was produced earlier this week on February 5.

“Ladies and gentlemen, we just reached the millionth device,” the developer posting stated. The somewhat speculative report tentatively added: “of course just judging by serial number.”

Discovered via the handset’s IMEI number, the landmark Google Nexus 4 sale was reportedly made in Turkey. Google has yet to offer an official statement on the Google Nexus 4 sales figures.

With the Google Nexus 4 currently back in stock through the UK arm of the Google Play Store, reports of the handset’s millionth unit sale have been paired with further insight into production levels of the in demand device. Suggesting that just 70,000 Google Nexus 4 handsets were produced in October ahead of launch, it has been claimed that production has increased to meet demand with 550,000 of the iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S3 rivals crafted in January.

Google Nexus 4 Specs
Playing host to a high-end collection of innards alongside a wallet-friendly price tag, the Google Nexus 4 specs sheet sees a stunning 4.7-inch WXGA IPS display line up with a 1280 x 768p resolution, 320 pixels-per-inch image density and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protective coating.

With further Google Nexus 4 features seeing the handset play host to a zippy 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, the 9.1mm thick, 139g in weight handset adds 2GB of RAM, a 2100mAh Lithium-polymer battery and the choice of 8GB or 16GB internal storage options.

Running Google’s Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS, the Google Nexus 4 specs sheet is rounded off by an 8-megapixel rear-mounted camera with 1080p Full HD video recording capabilities and a second, 1.3-megapixel, snapper around front.
