Google Maps now includes Uber fare and time estimates tab
Uber’s relative ubiquity has made it a go-to option for getting around the world’s major cities, so it makes sense the ride-sharing service takes its place within Google Maps’ travel options.
Today, Google has announced it is expanding the Uber partnership by adding Uber time and fare estimates alongside the standard walking, cycling, driving and public transport options.
While the partnership with Uber is well established, the new feature will also work with installed apps depending on your location. In the UK, it’s compatible with Hailo and Gett.
Tapping the new taxi icon will also show fare and time estimates based on your route for whatever compatible services you have installed on the phone.
Uber users will also be able to see options from different classes like UberX, UberXL and UberBlack, making the comparisons quick and easily.

In a post on the Google Long Lat blog, the company wrote: “
“So when you’re leaving work to meet a friend for dinner, you can easily compare your options to find the fastest way there, without having to open multiple apps.”
The update is coming to the Google Maps for Android ‘over the next few days,’ while the iOS release is expected ‘soon.’
