Google Maps’ helpful taxi tab comes to iOS
Google has expanded the availability of the new taxi app tab within Google Maps, so iOS users can now join in on the fun.
Just last week, the feature, which enables users to summon locally available rides and receive time and fare estimates with the tap of a button, was rolled out for Android devices.
Naturally Uber is among those available, and helpfully the tab offers different fare and time estimates from different travel classes like UberXL and Uber Black.
Other platforms will also be available depending on your location. For example, in the UK, those with Hailo and Gett apps installed on their phones will also see the estimates.

Google has had a longstanding partnership with Google Maps, but it appears the firm is set on being more inclusive of other platforms.
As well as the taxi app, users can also access recent Google Maps searches and saved places within the Spotlight Search field for iOS devices.
The new app can be downloaded from the App Store today.
