Google confirms October 4 event – Pixel phone incoming?

It’s official: Google is hosting a press event in October to launch new devices – including the mysterious Google Pixel phone?
Google has confirmed rumours that it plans to unveil a number of new products at a dedicated launch event on October 4. The search engine giant has launched a new website that teases an upcoming handset – almost certainly the Pixel phone – and lets fans sign up for updates about the launch.
Rumours suggest Google has a number of new products in the pipeline, including the new Pixel and Pixel XL. They’re reported to be Google’s flagship smartphones this year, and mark the replacement of the ‘Nexus’ phone brand. It’s said that Taiwan’s HTC is building both phones, but that Google will market and sell them under its own brand.
However, we’ve also heard that Google may release a couple of other devices, namely a new Nexus (or Pixel) tablet, as well as a Chromecast 4K. There’s also a good chance we’ll see the launch of the new Allo messenger app, if it misses its rumoured Wednesday debut.
