Google has revealed the latest versions of its top-of-the-line Chromebook Pixel notebook computer.
The £799/$999 Chromebook Pixel keeps the same design as its predecessor but brings a cheaper price point, adds better battery life and brings more power to the mix.
The standard model brings Intel Core i5 processors, 8GB of RAM, 32GB of storage.
Google is also releasing a Chromebook Pixel LS (which means Ludicrous Speed), which brings the new Core i7 processors, a whopping 16GB of RAM and a 64GB SSD. That costs £999/$1,299
Both Chrome OS models come packing a 2560 x 1700 touchscreen 12.85-inch display with a 3:2 aspect ratio.
Like Apple’s new MacBook laptop, the Chromebook Pixel features Type-C USB technology. This laptop has a USB-C port for charging, data transfer or external monitor hookups. There’s no full size HDMI port, but there are two USB 3.0 ports, an SD card reader and a headphone jack.

In terms of the aesthetics, the design remains much the same, but there’s a better trackpad and keyboard, a wide-angle front-facing camera, and a stiffened hinge for easier touchscreen use.
The laptops can be purchased in the United States from today from Google’s new online store (store@googole.com). The UK version of the store says they’re ‘coming soon.’
