Goat Simulator coming to PS4 and PS3 next month

Coffee Stain Studios’ bizarre Goat Simulator is coming to PS3 and PS4 on August 11, with an all new “GoatVR” mode.

Goat Simulator, the game jam experiment that evolved into a hugely successful indie title is coming to Sony platforms next month, port developer Double Eleven announced yesterday.

The title saw its console debut in April of this year, when a port of the PC version launched for the Xbox One and Xbox 360. The port was handled by Double Eleven, an outsourced studio that is also working on the PS3 and PS4 versions of the game.

Both platforms will support local split-screen multiplayer: two players on PS3 and four players on PS4. So if you and your friends have always wanted to roam around as goats causing countless explosions whilst murdering civilians; this is your lucky day.

The Playstation release will see the debut of a new mode known as “GoatVR” which Double Eleven are calling a “simulated GoatVR experience.” This strange mode obviously won’t require a virtual reality headset. It is currently unfinished, but will be playable on the Playstation ports.

“”We still need to do that part where it connects to an actual headset but for now you can enjoy a simulated GoatVR experience without it,” said Mark South, chief operating officer at Double Eleven.

“We’ve also added a score multiplier to help offset the concerns we’ve had from a very few number of Beta testers that felt it was somewhat difficult to ‘see where you are going.”

The mode will apparently support virtual reality peripherals in the future, which should shine some light on what the developers have created. To us, it sounds like something you need to experience to understand.

Console versions of Goat Simulator are yet to receive the GoatZ and Goat MMO expansion packs, which have been available on PC for some time now. It is unknown whether this content will be coming to consoles in the future.

Goat Simulator is coming to PS3 and PS4 on August 11.
