Ghost Recon To Haunt PC

And it has gone gold. Gone Gold!

There has long been a frustrating licencing boundary that stopped titles crossing easily between console and PC but the ongoing UbiSoft/Capcom partnership seems to be doing its best to dissolve it.

The latest gem to fall PC gamers’ way as a result of it is the graphical splendour also known as Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter. Positively received by Riyad when it debuted on the Xbox 360 last month it tells the story of an elite Special Forces unit sent in to rescue the US president from Mexicans so he can bring back ‘Democracy’ to Mexico (yes, I’m choking too).

Still, this nauseating portrayal of global politics is only a very thin layer to a highly polished game and it will be interesting to see just how well a high end PC can compete with the Xbox 360. Especially considering the PC version of Ghost Recon: Advanced Warrior will support AGEIA’s new physics card out of the box.

Furthermore, UbiSoft and Capcom have been secretive little bunnies because they haven’t made this exciting announcement well in advance of an actual release date. On no, instead they’ve had coders privately tapping away for months because the conversion has remarkably just gone gold.

3 May is the day we’ll see it hit shelves and in the modding obsessed world of PC gamers I can’t wait for a patch from Mexico which let’s us play as Mexicans Special Forces fighting to free the Mexican president from American soil so he can restore democracy to the United States.
