Get The Party Started

UK Company Podgear unveils a neat range of add ons designed to protect, prod, probe and penetrate every orifice of your iPods.

Podgear has the right idea: it makes iPod Gear. Now that is nice and clear branding (unlike this, this and definitely this, but like this) and it has come up with a couple of snazzy accessories: the Icebox, PocketParty and ShuffleStation (ok, we are back in Daft-Naming and SillyJoining Land again).

We’ll start with the PocketParty (above), this is a sassy mini speaker system which plugs into the headphone port to pump out sound from its adorable one watt stereo speakers. It sucks no power away from the player as it takes a single AA battery which is good for 10 hours. Volume is controlled directly from the iPod.

The PocketParty Shuffle (not doubt you are way ahead of me here) is identical to the PocketParty but designed to fit the Shuffle. These little guys obviously aren’t going to fuel a rave with thumping music but they could be useful to put on a shelf when sitting in the bath (at least that strikes me as a particularly appealing application).

Both PocketParty variants cost £24.99 including VAT, the standard model is out now with the mod for the Shuffle coming in April.

The ShuffleStation is a dock for the iPod Shuffle. I’m sure you’ve seen loads of these things for the iPod and iPod mini but this is one of the first we’ve seen for the Shuffle. No word on the output from this one but it is flexible enough to run off the mains, 4x AAA batteries and charge its spit roasted Shuffle through USB. Due “mid-March” (so we are guessing ”now”), sacrifice £34.99 including VAT and it’s yours.

Rounding off this little ensemble is the Icebox, a clear protective case available for the iPod and iPod mini. There are cutaways to allow access to the controls and ports (dock connector, headphone socket, remote output, etc), while it comes complete with a belt clip and lanyard to make it easier for people to listen on the move.

The IceBox20 and IceBox mini both go home with you if you cross the podgear site’s metaphorical hand with £19.99 (incl VAT) worth of silver. As my bro would say to almost anything connected with iPod: ”Sweet!”
