During the PS5 games reveal we got our first glimpse at Resident Evil 8: Village and it looks rather special. Here is everything we know about the title so far.
After focussing on a couple of series remakes, Capcom is back on mainline Resident Evil games for the next-gen of consoles.
Trusted Reviews has compiled everything we’d love to see from Resident Evil 8 alongside all the latest news, release date, trailers and our very own wishlist.
Resident Evil 8 Village setting and gameplay
Resident Evil 8: Village is a continuation of the story from Resident Evil 7, which was in many ways a reboot of the series. Like 7, Village puts you in the boots of Ethan and it is set a couple of months after the events of the previous entry Biohazard. A short synopsis of the game’s story reads, “Ethan and his wife Mia living peacefully in a new location, free from their past nightmares. Just as they are building their new life together, tragedy befalls them once again.”
Once again this is a first-person survival horror game and Capcom says there are new enemy types and even ‘snow-capped’ locales. With this title set to come out on next-gen hardware it is certainly exciting to see what it looks like to play.
Along with the announcement we also got a trailer for the game, which you can watch below.

Resident Evil 8 release date – When could it come out?
Resident Evil Village is set for a 2021 release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Steam. That means while this won’t be a launch titles for the new wave of consoles, it will come out shortly after. It also looks like this is purely a next-gen experience, with the game not coming out on older consoles like the PS4.
Resident Evil 8 Story – What could happen?
SPOILER ALERT! Resident Evil 7 concludes with protagonist Ethan Winters defeating Eveline before being saved by a familiar face. Chris Redfield, now working for the Umbrella Corporation, emerges from a helicopter with a squad of heavily armed soldiers. This conclusion raises so many questions.
Why does Redfield look so different? Why is he working for Umbrella? What are they planning? We expect many of these queries to be addressed in Resident Evil 8, which will no doubt see the introduction of a much wider threat. Umbrella cannot be trusted, that much is for sure.
