Here’s when we can expect Microsoft’s big Xbox Series X event – report

A new report has emerged which provides a potential date for Microsoft’s long-awaited Xbox Series X event that will feature an assortment of first-party games.

This new information comes from journalist Jeff Grubb (via VGC) and claims that the upcoming event will take place on Thursday, July 23rd, and will be Microsoft’s second event of this type.

It will focus primarily on Series X titles coming from Xbox Game Studios such as Halo Infinite and Hellblade 2: Senua’s Saga. We imagine a number of new titles will also be unveiled, including the long-rumoured Fable 4

Halo Infinite will receive its debut gameplay presentation after being announced over two years ago, while we will also see the reveal of The Initiative’s first project, a new studio formed by Xbox to develop for the new console.

Microsoft’s debut event in a world now dominated by Covid-19 was a bit of a mixed bag, with unusual production values despite a huge number of games being shown off, the majority of which came from third parties.

The company admitted after the fact it failed to manage expectations, and will likely use that criticism to make its next event even better. Here’s hoping they’ve got better webcams this time.

Nothing official has been confirmed regarding the upcoming event, beyond the fact that it will occur in July. Microsoft will likely solidify things in the coming days, and may even provide a welcome teaser of things to come.

Apparently the Xbox Series S (Lockhart) was planned to be announced this month, but has since been pushed back to August. Once again, take all of this with a grain of salt for the time being, but you can check out the recently rumoured specs and other information here.
