Fortnite Season 9 release date – when does it start?

Fortnite Season 9 has arrived across all platforms. That means it’s time to pick up the battle pass and start grinding for all the lovely skins, cosmetics, weapons and more!

Fortnite Season 9 Battle Pass – What’s in it?

With a new Fortnite Season comes a new Battle Pass, and this one includes over 100 distinct rewards to unlock over the next couple of months. It feels like the base character models in Fortnite have also received some subtle visual upgrades, making this season’s collection of skins shine ever so brighter.

This season’s battle pass comes in at 950 V-Bucks, and upon purchase you’ll immediately unlock the Sentinel and Rox Progressive Outfits, the latter of which will be upgraded as you complete challenges and gain extra tiers. At the final level, you’ll unlock an extra special outfit to show off to your friends.

Fortbytes are a surprise new addition to Season 9. These pick-ups can be found across the map, and collecting them will unlock a bunch of additional secrets and rewards.

Fortnite Season 9 Map – Any major changes?

The volcano that recently laid waste to Tilted Towers has brought about an abundance of changes to Fortnite’s landscape. Out of the ashes has risen Neo Tilted – a reimagined version of the bustling city with a cyberpunk vibe. It’s new yet familiar, blending a recognisable aesthetic with loving flashes of groovy colour.

New attractions such as Peely’s Banana Stand and Nugget Hut have also emerged, which we’re keen to give a good explore. Getting around the map has also been enhanced with the Slipstream Wind Teleportation System. Air vents allow you to navigate through massive buildings with ease, getting the drop of enemies before they have a chance to react.

Fortnite Season 9 gameplay – Will we see any changes?

Season 9 introduces a few new ideas into the tried-and-true battle royale formula, many of which change how you approach navigating the map itself. The Slipstream Wind Teleportation System can be found and utilised in a variety of locations, making it easier to navigate through buildings and surprise enemies.

New collectibles known as Fortbytes have also been introduced, complimenting the battle pass and hiding unique rewards depending on how many you manage to collect. Many differences in Season 9 are purely cosmetic, but it’s amazing to see a bunch of mechanical changes, too!
