CD Projekt Red has removed a big feature from Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most exciting game releases on the horizon. Now, the developers, CD Projekt Red, have controversially decided to remove an interesting feature from the upcoming RPG. However, it’s far from a dealbreaker.

Cyberpunk 2077 offers a huge open-world to explore and gives players a variety of methods to move around the dystopian metropolis of Night City. Already we’ve seen a variety of motor vehicles and plenty of routes to be taken throughout the city. However, developers initially suggested that “wall-running” would be an option in the game. Now, that has been removed after being showcased in earlier gameplay demos.

“Ah, the wall-running” Pears told GameReactor. “That is something that we removed due to design reasons, but there’s still going to be a lot of flexibility in how you move, that’s for sure.”

So, parkour is off the menu, it seems. Don’t be surprised though if Cyberpunk 2077’s intricate list of skill-trees and explore-able locations offers up some interesting – and unexpected – ways to travel.

Recently revealed gameplay footage showed off the start of the ‘Nomad’ playthrough – in which players begin their story in a garage, in a small town, far from the game’s central location – Night City. This showed off how important cars will be for exploration. More important than wall-running, anyway.

The game is set for release on PC, PS4 and Xbox One on November 19, with a Stadia release also pencilled in “soon”. Gamers who purchase the game on current-gen consoles will be able to upgrade to next-gen copies at no extra cost, with an upgrade for those machines also set to arrive in the future.

Eager fans have already been treated to extended gameplay footage and the game looks hugely promising. CD Projekt Red are legends when it comes to making great RPG titles, as the brains behind one of the very best modern RPGs, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. If the game comes anywhere near that standards set by The Witcher 3, it’s going to be a classic of the genre.
