Lucky Japanese gamers get their hands on the teeniest portable gaming console ever. But we Brits know the value of import... ;)
nano or Micro? This is the question going round and round my head today as two of the most desirable devices of the year hit the market.
Technically, it is not quite an even playing field. As you will have noticed from our nano review, the Apple stunning player is in UK shops now, while the Micro has just started shipping in Japan, but that still means you can get them on import… 😉
Of course, putting the two together is like comparing apple’s (hehe) and oranges, but they both set new benchmarks in super portability. One is the smallest 2GB and 4GB digital music player on the market, the other is the smallest gaming console on the market.
How small is the Micro? Only 100 x 50 x 18mm (”thanks for the “cm” spot David!”) and weighing a feather light 79g. For a full feature recap find my preview here. Now, if you aren’t adventurous enough to grab an import (Riyad got his PSP nine months ago!), at least the waiting time for a UK Micro is just seven weeks (4 November).
The only question that still remains is nano or Micro? How about one for each pocket? In fact, you could probably stuff them both into the same pocket in a pair of hot pants and not notice, but we wouldn’t want these two stunners to scuff one another, would we?
How long before the Apple Atom or Nintendo Electron? Place your bets people.
